Lived-in blonding is dimensional blonde placed so the regrowth stays soft, letting you go three to five months between appointments instead of six weeks. At Drip Hair Studio it is built with a mix of balayage and foils and maintained with an $85 gloss.
The idea
Solid blonde to the scalp looks its best the day it is done and worse every day after. Lived-in blonde is built with the root left deliberately deeper, so the grow-out reads as dimension rather than as neglect. It is the difference between a color that has a maintenance deadline and one that has a maintenance window.
Why it matters here specifically
Bozeman is dry, high, and bright. Hard water leaves mineral deposit that pulls blonde orange. Sun at 4,800 feet lifts tone faster than it does at sea level, and dry indoor heat from October to April makes lightened hair brittle at the ends. A blonde that requires perfection to look right will not get it here. One built to drift will.

Keeping it
A chelating or clarifying wash every few weeks for the hard water. Cool water. A heat protectant that you actually use. Purple shampoo once a week at most — more than that and it goes muddy and dull, which is a different problem than brassy and takes longer to undo.
